Waveform

This is a source sequence parameter which specifies the waveform to be generated.

The alternatives which can be selected from the dropdown list are:

• CW: generate an unmodulated tone (Continuous Wave); this is the default value.
• Continue Previous: continue playback of the waveform from the previous step in the sequence).
• Off: do not play a waveform.
• [filenames]: select one of the listed waveform files. This list is read from the test set's default ARB waveform directory, D:\NVARB. If the content of that directory has changed, click Refresh Waveforms to update the content of the dropdown list for this parameter.

Waveform File Types

The file types which can be selected for this parameter are: *.bin, *.wfm, *.waveform, and *.seq.

Note: A waveform sequence file (with the filename extension ".seq") is a composite waveform file; it is unrelated to a an EXT sequence file (which has the same extension, and is used when saving a sequence from Sequence Studio).

Waveform Must Be In Arb Memory

If the Waveform parameter is set to the name of a file, that file must be loaded from the D:\NVARB directory to the ARB memory of the source in the EXT test set before the sequence is run. If the referenced waveform file is not in ARB memory, an error window appears, as follows:

This situation can be remedied either through the front panel interface of the EXT test set (in the menu Source, Modulation Setup, ARB, Select Waveform) or by sending SCPI commands from the Interactive I/O tab of Sequence Studio.

To load a given file to ARB memory by means of a command, the format is:

:SOURce:RADio:ARB:LOAD "<file path>"

For example:

:SOUR:RAD:ARB:LOAD "D:\NVARB\EDGE_BURST.WFM"
